Calling all Mensans and Junior Mensans who are keen to find out more about the education path for gifted children in Singapore. Our guest speakers are gifted children educators who are themselves parents of gifted children. Details of their presentation are as follows:
It’s our fault, we created this mess – evaluating the education path for gifted children in Singapore.
As both parents of gifted children and gifted children educators, they will share their experience in the importance of early intervention/ support to gifted children, and potential issue like asynchronous development of these gifted children. They will also share their bullet marks of mistakes and areas which they could have done better in parenting these gifted children.
They will also discuss the various education and enrichment options for gifted children both in Singapore and overseas like the Gifted Education Program of MOE, Direct School Admission to top secondary schools in Singapore, John Hopkins & Stanford University online programmes and camps.

Profiles of the speakers
Claudia Chng
BBA (First Class Honours, NUS), Chartered Accountant (Singapore), Chartered Financial Analyst, Post-Graduate Study in Effective Practice of Gifted Education
Claudia was awarded the Ministry Of Education (Singapore) scholarship for undergraduate study, and graduated from National University of Singapore with a First Class Honours in Finance. After working more than 10 years in corporate finance, Claudia has developed a strong interest in special education (Gifted Education) as a mother of two gifted children (both have been selected for the Singapore GEP programme and Mensa Junior members). She has done her post-graduate study in “Effective Practice in Gifted Education”. Claudia is the founder of Gifted & Talented Education Centre (www.gifted-school.com) in Singapore.
Claudia is married to Hock Huat, with four children aged 2, 3, 10 and 12.
Chng Hock Huat
Hock Huat was the winner of the Association of SME Entrepreneur of the Year 2004 Award in Singapore and is currently a board member of two public-listed companies namely Ban Leong Technologies Ltd and Universal Resource & Service Ltd in Singapore.
Chng Hock Huat was the Founder / Chief Executive Officer for Opentech Pte Ltd from 1998 to 2006. Opentech Pte Ltd was awarded Top Small-Medium Enterprise (SME 500) in Singapore since 1999. After its acquisition by Keane Inc., a NYSE-listed IT service company, Hock Huat was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of its Asia Operations between 2006 to 2010. He subsequently left to pursue his interest in fine art and was awarded Masters of Art Business by the Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Manchester University, London in 2012. He has founded H&M Group investing in both art and education businesses.
