• The Entrance Fee is waived for all new Mensans. Mensans whose memberships have lapsed and wish to renew will have to pay either the Entrance Fee or their membership arrears for the months that their memberships have lapsed, in addition to the Annual Fees.
• To qualify for Subsidised Membership, please send proof of Full Time NSMen or Student/Undergraduate status by post to our office.
• 2-year and 3-year discounted subscriptions are only available for Mensans who are renewing their membership. New Mensans and Mensans whose memberships have lapsed and are “re-joining” will not be eligible for this rate until after their first year of membership.

If your child is below 14 years old, and you wish to admit your child to Mensa, you need to bring your child to any qualified Psychologist for a test such as the WISC-R test. If your child has undergone similar tests before, you may submit those test results to Mensa for consideration. Upon receiving of your report/test results from the psychologist, kindly forward it to Mensa Singapore. If the result meets Mensa criteria, we will revert to the parent/applicant submitting the test results/report. This is how Mensa Singapore presently accepts younger children to join the society.

Information about fees, testing schedules and availability are available at Mensa Singapore’s website, as well as directly from the Mensa Singapore office. At this present time, the MSAT is conducted monthly at Suntec City in the city center and costs S$55 per person. Special testing sessions are also conducted several times a year at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University for their students.

Important notes about the MSAT:

This test is to be used solely for qualification for membership in Mensa Singapore and should not be used for any other purpose.

Mensa uses a percentile as cutoff for membership to avoid confusion due to different numerical scores from different tests. Therefore, your results will be presented as a percentage and not a numerical score.

You cannot practice for this test nor can you improve your result by taking this test repeatedly. Candidates are not allowed to take this test more than once within a 12-month period.

If your result is within the top 2% of the general population, you will be invited to join Mensa Singapore. During the test, your proctors and testing officers will also be able to tell you more about Mensa.

Mensa Singapore treats the test procedures and all results to be private and confidential. Candidates can expect to receive their results within 3 to 8 weeks.

How do I qualify for Mensa?

Membership in Mensa is open to persons who have attained a score within the upper two percent of the general population on an approved intelligence test that has been properly administered and supervised. There is no other qualification or disqualification for membership eligibility.

The term “IQ score” is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don’t use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentile as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile (a score that is greater than or equal to 98 percent of the general population) on a standard test of intelligence to qualify.

Generally, there are two ways to prove that you qualify for Mensa:

• take the Mensa Singapore Admissions Test (MSAT), or
• submit a qualifying test score from another approved test (contact us for more information)
